How Joining MOVTT Helped Me Maintain Recovery While Enriching Others to Overcome Their Struggles

The first critical step in my journey was recognizing that I had a problem and finding the courage to ask for help. This pivotal moment occurred on January 3, 2009, while I was in county jail. From that point forward, I began an intentional exploration of my inner self, which ultimately led to a commitment to change and preparation for my reintegration into society.

Through participation in Narcotics Anonymous, Alcoholics Anonymous, and CGA, I was able to identify how unprocessed childhood trauma had developed into patterns of resentment, insecurity, and manipulative behavior. As I continued working through these programs, I gained valuable coping skills and new perspectives that helped me understand the destructive impact of my actions and commit to never harming others or relapsing.

Today, my involvement with MOVTT—an organization that emphasizes processing and discussing trauma—has given me a meaningful platform to connect with struggling teenagers. Through open forums, I am able to share a different perspective and offer hope based on my lived experience. By helping these young people set achievable short-term goals and develop new coping strategies, I have witnessed them not only grow personally but also invite others to join MOVTT and experience the same positive outcomes.

MOVTT's comprehensive resources—including inspiring stories, youth activities, and scholarship opportunities—provide families with powerful tools to support their young people. As we continue developing youth centers and community projects, we are creating pathways for lasting change.

My message is simple: it is never too late to change. With dedication and support, anyone can regain their voice and reclaim their position in society.
